Thousands braved the weather, in true British spirit, to enjoy a spectacular line up at the 2014 Show. Despite rain the atmosphere was buzzing, with hundreds of entries for livestock, horse and donkey, floristry, bees and honey and dog classes and the poultry show.
Surrey County Show attracts up to 40,000 visitors and features hundreds of top quality animals from giant beef bulls to bantam hens. It takes place annually on the late May Bank Holiday Monday on Stoke Park, Guildford, bringing the best of the countryside to the heart of the town. The Show is a fantastic day out for the family, combining entertainment, food and fun with the opportunity to see first hand the many aspects of country life and farming.
Surrey County Show is organised by Surrey County Agricultural Society, a membership society dedicated to supporting local farming and food production.
In September, the Society runs Surrey Farm and Food Week, a programme of free farm walks and events. The climax of the week is the Surrey County Ploughing Match and Country Fair held at Loseley Park outside Guildford. The classes involve vintage to modern tractors and horse drawn ploughs and rural sports and activities range from fly fishing to terrier racing and dog agility.
